Review: Petite Rouge at Sunchronicity Theatre

It's important to us to share about local entertainment. This past week, we took the time to go see Petite Rouge at Synchronicity Theatre. Here are our thoughts.

Synchronicity Theatre’s Petite Rouge is an inventive musical reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood with a spicy Cajun twist, complete with a hot sauce-loving alligator, a daring duck in a red hood, and a lively chorus that brings the Louisiana bayou to life.Adapted from the beloved children’s book by Mike Artell and Jim Harris, Petite Rouge takes audiences on a wild adventure through the swamp, blending classic fairy tale elements with Louisiana culture and music.

With book, music, and lyrics by Joan Cushing, the show is loaded with humor, heart, and a rhythm that keeps the energy high from start to finish.Under the sharp and spirited direction of Candy McLellan Davison, the performers embody their roles with infectious energy. The gator, playing the role of the classic villain, is both hilarious and menacing in just the right balance, while Petite Rouge is the perfect fearless heroine, full of sass and determination.

The entire cast delivers fantastic comedic timing, playful interactions, and vocals that soar over the foot-stomping zydeco soundtrack. With music directed by Amy Duffy and choreographed by Pytron Parker. The show’s music is irresistible, pulling the audience into a world of rhythm and dance that embodies the spirit of the bayou.

Check Out Their Upcoming Performances including "Love Letters" starting April 4th.

If you are a women interested in ebracing the arts community more, they have a great event coming up! Ladies Luncheon.
